Weight training yesterday, ride today; Increased miles on the bike.
Yesterday I decided to get a weight training workout in instead of riding. Last week I went heavy, and so this week I decided to go with more moderate weights and get the intensity level up. It wasn’t a terribly high volume workout–I don’t want to be sore or fatigued for the Haile’s Trails group ride on Saturday–but it was a good workout. This morning I can definitely tell I lifted, but I don’t think I overdid it. I should be good to go tomorrow morning.
I’ll be getting a ride in this morning, but nothing that is going to be too taxing.
Something interesting worth mentioning. I remember the first time I did the “Legs of Stone” challenge (about six weeks ago) I was really feeling it the next day. This past Wednesday Mike and I destroyed our previous bests on that challenge, and yesterday my legs felt just fine. The difference? Since the first time I did that challenge I’ve increased the number of miles I’ve been riding by a considerable margin: over the past 30 days I’ve put in a total of 341.93 miles; compare that to the first 30 days of August, during which I only put in 88.14 miles. That’s a pretty big increase, and the difference in my power and stamina is very noticeable. It will be interesting to see what my total miles are for the month. Whatever they are, my aim is to ride even more next month.
