Today is the Ride Of The Living Dead (ROLD) at Santos! This should be a fantastic experience: lots and lots of mountain biking, super cool people, great food and some awesome costumes. Yep, many of the riders do this ride in their Halloween costumes. Lots of my friends will be there, and I know some of them will be riding in costume. I’m doing the complete 50 mile course, but I’m not dressing up: I’m going for comfort for my first ROLD. Maybe next year?
Speaking of comfort, the weather looks like it’s going to be, overall, pretty good. The high temperature is only going to hit around 79° (F), and it probably won’t be all that humid. A small chance of rain in the morning, then partly cloudy skies. The hurricane that is brushing by Florida is going to make for very windy conditions: the forecast is calling for 20-25 MPH winds with gusts up to 35 MPH. Hey, I’ll take wind over heat any day!
I need to finish getting ready and get on the road. Registration stars at 8:00 AM, and I’m about 1.5 hours away from the park. Full report on Monday, possibly with video. 🙂
