NE storms; New video; Another great workout; Broken toe doing better.
I want to take a moment to give my best to everyone who has been affected by the storm in the Northeast US. I heard from my friend and JSF Sponsor Aram “Mastover” Hamparian (who lives in the Bronx, NY), and he said things are really bad there. You’re all in our thoughts. Please stay safe.
Last night I finished working on the second video from Saturday’s 50 mile “Ride Of the Living Dead”. This video is of me (camera), Michael Simmons (out front) and Andrew Tinny (on my wheel) riding the fast and fun “Nayls Trail”.
Andrew Tinny sort of got ripped off here. If we’d been thinking we would have had him out front some of the time, but he’s never seen in either video. Trust me, that dude can ride! He was on my wheel and shredding the whole way through “Ern ‘N Burn” (original video) and “Nayls” (new video).
Unlike the original video, this new one is just riding and no talking. I hope you like it!
In case you missed it, here is the original video. This video has some riding, but it also contains some pre-ride and mid-ride goofing around. I still laugh every single time I hear Mike’s booming voice echoing through the forest as if we’d just returned from razing a village: “FIX ME SOMETHING TO EAT, WOMAN!” This demand was, of course, followed immediately by his wife Denise’s sarcastic and barely interested “hah…”
Yesterday I did another workout on the indoor trainer. This was a 60 minute/17.4 mile TrainerRoad workout called “Tunnabora”: 5×7 minute intervals using cadence to decrease and increase watts within the sweet spot. You can checkout the data and graphs from the workout here.
My broken big toe was feeling a little better yesterday, so I did not even tape it up before my workout. There was a little pain, but nothing show-stopping. I’m willing this thing to heal quickly, and it’s working.
