Looking at my training calender yesterday morning I realized that I’d not had a day off from riding in more than a week, and so I decided to give my legs a little break and do an upper body weight training workout. I’ve been neglecting my weight training the past couple of weeks, and so a hard workout under the iron sounded good.
I decided to go with a very heavy, low volume (3 sets per exercise, 4-7 reps per set) workout. I took 2-3 minutes between sets and 3 minutes between each exercise. Even though the volume was not very high, I’m already feeling it this morning!
Today I’m going to be doing my review on the brand new Sufferfest workout, The Wretched. I was going to review this new workout over the weekend, but I contacted the good folks at TrainerRoad to see if they would have the corresponding TrainerRoad workout done soon. Sure enough, they completed and posted the workout yesterday.
“The Wretched” is a race simulation so I suspect this is going to be an absolutely brutal workout. I’m probably going to regret waiting for the corresponding TrainerRoad workout, as now I can’t use “perceived effort” as a cushion: I’ll have to abide by tough wattage-based targets based on my FTP (Functional Threshold Power).
Look for the review tomorrow. If I survive.
