Lisa was off from work yesterday and my schedule was pretty light, so I took a personal day and spent the day with her.

I was going to do some weight training in the morning, but it was nice outside so I decided to get all the yard work done. I mowed, edged and trimmed while Lisa weeded in the backyard. Quite a bit of work, about 4 hours.

I’m really happy with how everything is looking out there right now. Those late freezes didn’t do as much damage as I thought they would. The lawn is still not 100%, but it’s recovering quickly and looking quite good. The four new Foxtail palms I planted early this spring were hurt (browned all the fronds) by the two unexpected freezes, but new green fronds are coming out on all of them now.

I’m growing some African Daisy for the first time this year, and I’m very impressed! I planted some a couple months ago under the trio of new Foxtail palms by the pond, and they have done extremely well. The daisies are growing very quickly, the freezes didn’t phase them in the slightest, they love full sun and and they are in constant bloom. Beautiful, hardy flower.

Ouch.

Ouch.

After the yard work we went to Costco for another major stocking up on various food items and other stuff. As most of you know, we like to buy in bulk to save time and money. Yesterday we walked out with a very encumbered cart, and a very light wallet: 60 pounds chicken breasts, 12 pounds salmon, 8 pounds shrimp, 10 pounds almonds, 10 pounds cashews, 1.5 pounds pine nuts, 24 pounds coffee beans, beef jerky, toothpaste, Fish oil, Glucosamine, paper towels, toilet paper, cleaning supplies, Clif bars, gum… the list goes on.

As hard as the final total is to swallow on these big trips, it’s nice to be set for the next few months. Our weekly shopping trips are mainly for fresh veggies, and very inexpensive.

After we put away all those groceries we went up to the theater, put out feet up and watched a movie. 🙂

I love days like yesterday. I really don’t like lazing around the entire day when I’m off. I always enjoy my down time much more when I’ve been productive beforehand.

Happy Friday!
