Today is Memorial Day in the United States, and most of us have the day off. While having an extra day off from work is always nice, I sincerely hope my fellow Americans will join me in giving thanks to all the brave men and women who serve, and who have served, in our armed forces.
While I wish we lived in a world where no one had to put his or her life on the line to protect our way of life, that’s not the reality we live in. I have the highest respect for the men and women who bravely serve our country, many of whom have paid the ultimate price. Thank you.
I’m heading out early for a ride with my buddy Mike, who I somehow conned into doing a road ride with me. Since we both have the day off from work, we’re planning to do at least a metric century (100 kilometers). Looks like the high today is only going to be around 86° (F), so that’s pretty good riding weather considering it’s practically June.
Have a good day everyone.
Well said. When we were in FL 2 months ago (USA is our number 1 vacation destination, between going to Ellicottville NY, DC, Myrtle beach and Disney at least 2 to 3 times a year), we stopped at the visitor centre at the state line for some OJ like we always do and my 2 girls got to meet 2 Veterans (wearing desert camo I think) who were outside collecting. They are 7 and 10, but they aren’t shy and never met anyone from the US military. They asked them so many questions and the gentlemen were so friendly and asked the girls lots of questions too when they found out they were Canucks. They gave them little USA flags and the girls gave them Jube jubes. It was awesome…

Great story, Joe. I have no doubt the vets appreciated that your girls took such a genuine interest in what they do. Let me know if you’re ever in this area and we’ll sneak in a ride!
