Heat is on; Heading out early for a small group metric centry ride.
We’ve had a lot of rain recently (and we need it!), and it’s also been really hot. Yesterday I did a fast 1 hour/20 mile ride first thing in the morning, and when I finished up I was completely drenched in sweat. The humidity is so bad right now that it’s actually difficult to breathe when I’m really exerting myself.
I’d better get used to the heat, summer has just begun. This morning I’m heading out extra early for a 100+ kilometer ride (see yesterday’s blog). Looks like it’s going to be me, Harv (who I’m meeting for the first time–again, see yesterday’s blog) and my buddy Mike. Even though we’re getting a nice early start, it’s a long ride and the heat and humidity will ramp up very quickly.
I’ll have a good supply of the Saltstick caps I just purchased along with me (Mike bought some as well, as he is prone to muscle cramps on long rides). I’ll let you know how they do for us in tomorrow’s blog.
I’ll have a full report on the ride tomorrow. Have a great day!
