Very lazy weekend, back to training today.
Lisa’s birthday was on Saturday, and so her parents came to stay the weekend with us. We all went out to eat at our favorite Mexican restaurant, and ate way too much food. When we got back home we hung out, drank some red wine and reminisced a bit (it’s still hard to believe that Lisa and I met almost 25 years ago!) Later that night we somehow managed to eat some delicious birthday cake.
I mentioned in Saturday’s blog that I’d been feeling a little off my game, and that my heart rate has been higher than usual when riding. Usually the morning after a big cheat meal I feel compelled to get a hard bike ride in, and it was no different when I woke up on Sunday morning. I was pretty close to taking off on my bike, but I decided to force myself to stick to my plan and rest.
I decided as long as I was being lazy, I was not even going to cook breakfast. Instead I took the family out for breakfast, and it was delicious. After breakfast Lisa and her mom went shopping, while Lisa’s dad and I disappeared into the theater to watch stuff blow up real good. Oh, and popcorn.
Good grief, all that junk food and two days off the bike? I feel like a lazy sack of mud this morning.
I think the rest and relaxation did me some good. Now it’s time to get down to business and get back to training! The Black Bear Rampage is just a little over six weeks away, and I’m going to be training very hard during that time.
Today I’m going jump back into my current TrainerRoad cycling training program, Intermediate Build I. Today’s workout is “Joe Devel”, and it’s got some difficult power repeats with short rest intervals. Hopefully after I shake the dust off my legs I’ll settle in and have a good workout. We’ll see…
