Replacement derailleur hanger to arrive today; Zipp replacement. My replacement rear derailleur hanger should be here today.

My Madone should be partially back in action today: the replacement rear derailleur hanger is expected to arrive this afternoon. Even though I’m still working on getting my replacement rear Zipp 404 wheel (more on that below), I do have a dedicated rear wheel for my indoor trainer. Once I have the replacement derailleur hanger I’ll at least be able use my Madone in my

Humbling deadlift session yesterday; Injuries kept me awake last night. I'm not crying. Honest.

With my road bike out of commission and no time to go mountain biking, I decided that yesterday was a perfect day to hit the weights. I was in the mood for an intense, high volume workout, but I also included some low rep, heavy deads. It’s been a long time since I’ve done heavy deadlifts, and so after warming up a bit I slapped more plates on the deadlift bar than it’s seen in… [Read more]

Rainy ride leads to wreck. Expensive day. This was an expensive slip.

Yesterday morning I’d planned to do an early 50-60 mile ride, and I was very much looking forward to it. It’s been a while since I’ve ridden the West Orange Trail, the South Lake Trail and the NTC extension, so I decided to do that route. There was a narrow band of fairly strong storms in the area, but they looked like they were north of where I was going to be riding. Of course–as… [Read more]

Thoughts on the 2013 Madone after 1,100 kilometers; Di2 continues to impress. My 2013 Madone on the stand last night for a quick tune.

I’ve put more than 1,100 kilometers on my 2013 Madone 5.9, and I have nothing but positive things to say about it thus far. The bike is light, comfortable, fast, handles like a dream and looks great. I’ve not had so much as even a minor issue with any aspect of the bike. The Di2 electronic shifting is a revelation. Shifting has become so effortless that I don’t think about shifting anymore. Di2 is as… [Read more]

The 39th Annual Mount Dora Bicycle Festival is almost here! 2013 Mount Dora Bike Festival Jersey

The 39th Annual Mount Dora Bicycle Festival will be held this year over a period three days: Friday, October 11th through Sunday October 13th. This is primarily a roadie event, however people are more than welcome to do any of the rides on a mountain bike (and some do). I’m registered for all three days, but will probably not be able to show up on Friday. I will definitely be attending the festival on Saturday,… [Read more]

Back in the pain cave… My workout graph from McAdie” on TrainerRoad.

I’m planning to purchase a dedicated bike for my indoor fluid trainer, and I’ve had my eyes peeled for deals. Obviously I don’t need anything fancy or lightweight (in fact, the heavier and tougher the better), and I definitely don’t want to spend much money. I already have a trainer wheelset, cassette, tires and tubes, so all I really need is the frame (size 56 or 58 would work) and components. While not a strict… [Read more]

Sore muscles; Past few road rides; Upcoming Century rides and road race.

After nearly three weeks without lifting, Friday’s weight training workout felt great! As expected, my muscles are super sore right now. In fact, I’m probably as sore as I’ve ever been before. Yesterday right after my morning ride I installed a new over-the-range microwave oven, and moving that beast around and positioning it on the wall mounting bracket was not fun with my muscles as sore as they are. New microwave? Yep. Our expensive GE… [Read more]
