November has been a fairly rough month for me. Well, at least it seemed that way on the surface. Thanksgiving couldn’t have come at a better time. This morning as I sat here drinking my coffee, I reflected on all of the things for which I’m thankful. Instead of dwelling on the things that went wrong this month, I focused on all the stuff that went right. Turns out November wasn’t a tough month, it was a great month.
Thanksgiving is probably my favorite holiday. I love hanging out with my family, telling stories and cooking for everyone. I’ve been preparing a “traditional” Thanksgiving dinner for the whole family every year since my transformation in 2003–a decade now! Today I’ll be roasting a giant 25 pound turkey and preparing homemade gravy, homemade dressing (from an incredible old family recipe–thanks, mom!), mashed potatoes with roasted garlic, cranberries (Lisa always makes the cranberries), big fluffy biscuits and pumpkin pie for desert.
Of course there will be enough leftovers to feed all of us for several days. I am NOT looking forward to my weekly stats on Sunday–they are going to be real ugly.
Happy Thanksgiving! Please have a wonderful, safe holiday!
