2014 cut will start on January 13th instead of the 6th.
After I posted yesterday’s blog, I started feeling even worse than I did when I first woke up. I wasn’t feeling terrible or anything–I am definitely functional–but I didn’t feel up to exercising, so I didn’t. I think it was the right call, as I’m still feeling pretty crappy this morning. I may get in a light ride this morning, but I haven’t decided on that yet.
I’m getting fired up about my upcoming cut (see “2014 cut is a go: HARDCORE mode“)! I think the weeks leading into a cut are pretty important. I like use that time to get mentally prepared, and I also rough out my meal plans. I’ll be hitting Costco this weekend or on Monday to stock up on proteins and other foods I’ll be consuming during my cut. More on that next week…
The day after I wrote the blog announcing my cutting plans (which was to start on January 6th), I realized that the the Tour De Felasco MTB event is on the 11th. The 100 kilometer San Felasco mountain bike ride will certainly involve post-ride beer and food, and I definitely don’t want to miss out on that.
I suppose I could allow myself that one cheat meal, but that’s not really how I operate: once I start a cut (or, in days past, a bulk), I don’t do anything that will slow my momentum. Cheat meals definitely fall under that category.
So, with that in mind, I’ve decided to simply start my cut one week later than I’d originally planned. While it would have been cool to start my cut on January 6th (which is the 11th anniversary of my original transformation start date), apart from that bit of nostalgia it doesn’t really matter.
So, my 2014 cut will proceed exactly as planned, but I will start it on Monday, January 13, 2014.
