I'm in: 33rd Annual Cross-Florida Bike Ride
Earlier this week I alluded to an epic ride that I was strongly considering doing in early April: the Spacecoast Freewheelers 33rd Annual Cross-Florida Bike Ride. Well, I’ve decided. I’m doing it.
The single-day XFL ride begins early in the morning on the east coast of Florida at Cocoa Beach, and concludes ~270 kilometers later at Bayport park on the west coast. Here’s the route (click to enlarge):
270 kilometers in the saddle is going to be a big day, and a definite challenge. I’ve been training hard, and over the next six weeks I’ll be training even harder in preparation for this event.
With about 5 pounds left to go in my 2014 cut (full weekly stats–body fat/soft tape measurements/scale weight–in tomorrow’s blog), I expect to return to maintenance-level calories in about two weeks. I think the added calories combined with my new lighter weight is going to pack a powerful one-two punch. I’ll be ready for this.
Speaking of which, I need to go ride before the storms come. After yesterday’s windy 92 kilometer ride, I’ve totaled 1,1,76 kilometers so far for the month of February. 21 days into the month, and I’ve already broken my single-month distance personal record. My goal is to exceed 1,500 kilometers this month, and I’m on pace to do that.
