Increased calories; Riding streak alive; 2014 cut ends this weekend.
Yesterday I wrote that I’ve been experiencing greatly increased hunger, and some fairly serious cravings. On Tuesday I didn’t do an all-out refeed, but I increased my calories to more than 2,400. Yesterday I found myself feeling a little lightheaded, and so I further increased my calories to more than 2,700.
My scale weight this morning is holding steady at 159.8 pounds, but I had Asian Stir Fry last night and am holding a small amount of water. My Asian Stir Fry recipe is super healthy (I’ve prepared it at least once per week this entire cut), but the sodium content is a little higher than most of my other cutting meals; as such, there’s always a little water retention going on the day after I consume it.
So that 159.8 pounds includes a little extra water weight. I can tell I’ve lost even more fat this week: my size 29″ jeans are falling off me, and my arm vascularity is more pronounced than I’ve ever seen it in my life–especially when I’m hot/sweating.
Yesterday my 71-day riding streak nearly came to an end. Ever had those days where every task you accomplish is offset by two more? That was my day yesterday.
I had a tremendous amount of work to accomplish, and so I started working a little before 5:00 AM. The idea was to get to a point where I could break away for a morning ride sometime after sunrise, but one thing led to another and the next thing I knew it was late afternoon…
About the time I was thinking there was no way I was going to be able to get on the bike, my Internet connection suddenly, um… went down. Gee, not sure what the problem might have been, but I decided that as long as there were technical difficulties beyond my control, I might as well get a quick one-hour ride in. When I got back from the ride my Internet connection was back up and working fine. Weird. 😉
So my riding streak is alive and well at 72 days, and counting…
Well, just three more days left to go on my 2014 cut! I’ve got a very long 210 kilometer (130 mile) XFL training ride on Saturday, and that’s going to be a tough day in the saddle. I don’t want to mess around when it comes to fueling my body for that ride, and so I’ll probably be eating a little above my usual cutting caloric level. That’s okay, I’m not looking to lose any more fat this week, I just want to come in on Sunday morning below my goal of 160 pounds. I don’t think that’s going to be a problem, as I’m going to burn about 4 billion calories on Saturday.
