Final day of my 2014 cut; 130 mile bike ride today.
Today is the final day of my 2014 cut. It’s been a fantastic nine weeks of clean eating and hard training: as of this morning I’m down more than 26 pounds (scale weight is 159.2 pounds), and I cut my body fat percentage in half (from 12.3% to ~6%). Final stats, facts and figures will be posted in tomorrow’s blog.
Over the past nine weeks I’ve ridden more miles on my bike and set more personal records (for both distance and time) than ever before. It’s, therefore, apropos that the final day of my 2014 cut will include the longest cross-Florida training ride of the series: today is WMBC XFL Training Ride #4: 130 miles (210 kilometers). The actual Cross-Florida ride is 170 miles, which I’ll be doing on April 6th!
My legs and cardio feel better than ever, and I know I’m ready for this ride. My only concern is that I’ve been dealing with some saddle soreness, and it’s pretty painful; on long rides it’s downright excruciating. Rule #5 (language) will be in full effect today.
I’ve been trying various over-the-counter products to help with the saddle soreness, but nothing is providing relief. I know time off the bike is probably required, but that’s simply not an option right now. I’m planning to see my doctor next week for a physical, so I’ll speak to him about it then.
