Man, my past few blogs sure have been uninspired. That cold really kicked my butt for a few days, and I just haven’t felt much like writing. My sinuses continue to be the main issue, and that’s affected my sleep, which has affected my energy, which has affected pretty much everything I do. A cold got me; Vacation reminder.

I very rarely become sick, but a couple days ago I felt the beginnings of a cold coming on. Yesterday my cold symptoms became a little worse, and this morning things are not any better. Excellent ride yesterday, reaping the rewards of the 8DC. Stretching our legs on the open road...

Yesterday morning I did my first non-recovery ride since completing TrainerRoad’s “8 Days in California” (8DC) challenge. The 82 kilometer (51 mile) route took us north from Wooton Park, then turned west through Altoona and, finally, we pedaled southward through Emerelda marsh back to Wooton. Replaced my pedals and cleats: 600 km report. New Shimano Ultegra PD-6800 carbon pedals mounted on my 2013 Madone 5.9.

About a month ago I flipped over my shoes and saw that my cleats were badly in need of replacement. While I was at it, I took a good look at my pedals (Shimano Ultegra PD-6610), and they were pretty well trashed, too. The day after I completed the “8 Days in California” (8DC) challenge, I went for an easy and short 32 kilometer/20 mile ride. My legs were definitely feeling heavy, and I was quite fatigued in general.
