Yesterday started a little before 4:00 AM and, apart from my morning ride, I worked until my head hit the pillow shortly after 8:00 PM.

After finishing my blog and eating, I set off on my morning ride. I really enjoy riding in the dark, but yesterday morning the fog was so heavy that I was having a lot of trouble seeing the road. Have you ever hit your high beams in the fog? The fog reflects the extra bright light back, and makes visibility worse. That was what was happening to me yesterday morning, even with my powerful Gemini Duo LED light on its lowest setting:

I completed my ride just as the sun was coming up. After my ride, I took my bike straight into my bike shop and got her all cleaned and tuned for a big weekend of riding.

Once I had my bike squared away, I sat down at my computer and got a few hours of work banged out.

A little after 10:30 AM William and I set off to do the route painting for the Mount Dora Bike Festival’s (MDBF) “Assault on Sugarloaf” route. It was a fairly big job, and wound up taking a lot longer than I’d expected. When we first started marking the route things were going really slow, but as we progressed we became more efficient and things went fairly smoothly.

Here’s William about to paint the markers for the turn onto Sugarloaf Mountain road (each turn requires 5 markers):

Eventually we finished marking the route, and I arrived back home sometime after 4:00 PM. I still had quite a bit of work to do, so after my shower I sat back down at my desk and worked until bedtime.

My head was on the pillow shortly after 8:00 PM, and I was fast asleep well before nine.

I woke up this morning at 3:30 AM (no alarm), ready for a great ride today! Today I’ll be doing the MDBF Century (100 mile) ride, and I’m hoping for a fast 100 miles. Because I’m one of the ride Marshals, I very well may need to stop and help other riders. If that happens I will not be able to stay with the lead group, and will likely have to settle for a slower paced ride. That’s okay, I’m just looking forward to a fun ride with a few hundred cycling friends. 🙂

I’ll have a full report on this ride, as well as Sunday’s ride on Monday morning.

I need to eat and start pedaling. Have a great Saturday!
