Novembeard: Day 21.

It’s Friday, and not just any old run-of-the-mill, relaxed-dress-code, cut-out-early-from-the-office Friday. No, this Friday is ridiculously noteworthy because it’s the third Friday in November, and each Friday this November I am taking a progress picture… of my facial hair.

We like to get a little crazy around here at the holidays. Try to contain yourselves.

November, of course, is the month during which manly men don’t shave in order to avoid cancer. I may have my facts wrong on that, but I’m too lazy to Google it.

Anyway, as a manly man who definitely doesn’t want the cancer, I’m not shaving this month.

You may not be able to tell from the photos, but I have done absolutely no trimming, shaping, thinning or basically anything at all to improve my appearance… although a strong argument could be made that the beard itself is an improvement on my appearance since it helps to obscure my face. I’d prefer not to dwell on that point, so let’s move on, shall we?

Here’s your eagerly anticipated weekly photo of my unshorn mug:

  1. Ok, I said on day 7 that I like your beard in a non man crush way. LIES!! I’m man crushing hard on your beard. It’s just so….perfect.

Also, maybe one of the funniest written blogs you’ve ever had. The one with your shorts tearing and your junk hanging out is still my favorite.

Wow, I just mentioned man crush and your junk in the same reply. Ban me. Ban me now.

  2. I’d suggest reviving the Beard Thread in the basement, but I know there’s no point, since you’re going to capitulate and shave moments after taking the Nov. 28 pic.

(I read somewhere that a manly man with a manly beard actually shattered all his previous power output records one November whilst cycling through the sheer force of his bearded manliness. Just something to think about.)

  3. Looking good! I’m right there with you (more gray, though). My itching only lasted a few days. All good now. You should grow it long enough to blow to the side when you ride.
