Maintenance diet will be posted all week long.
Some of you have asked me to post a representative week of my typical maintenance diet, and starting today I’m going to do that.
You’ll find that my maintenance diet is not too far removed from my cutting diet. I eat clean and healthy almost all of the time, I just eat more when I’m maintaining. Also, when I’m in maintenance mode I include a few processed food items that I never consume when I’m cutting (for example, I’ll toss some croutons on my chicken salad).
Another difference between my maintenance diet and my cutting diet is that when I’m maintaining I consume splurge meals and alcohol a couple times per week, but when I’m cutting I have no cheat meals and abstain from alcohol completely.
I’ll be logging everything I consume that has caloric content. So you’ll see the teaspoon of sugar I put on my oats, but not stuff like coffee and tea, both of which I drink black/without sweetener.
Because I typically don’t log my maintenance diet, I’m actually fairly curious to see how many calories I’m consuming. I mean, I have a general idea, but it will be interesting to see the real total and the macro breakdown.
If you are interested in following along, click on over to MyFitnessPal. I’ll be logging everything from today through next Sunday.
