Thinking of selling Bloodbear (1972 vintage Raleigh Super Course)

I am strongly considering selling my vintage 1972 Raleigh Super Course. The bike is not stock, and has been converted into a fixie. I bought this bike late last year, but it’s seen practically no action. I hate to see a great bike collect dust, and right now I would get a lot more use out of a Time Trial bike.

Here’s a some information about her:

  • Original Reynolds 531 steel frame
  • Original Coffee paint and decals (no rust), with beautiful Nervex lugs
  • Original GB (Gerry Burgess) quill stem
  • Original Raleigh headbadge and chromed fork crown

The bike was originally a 10-speed but, as mentioned above, it has been converted into a fixie. It’s set up with Ultegra 170mm cranks, a 39t chainring and a 14t cog.

The wheels, tires, chain, crank, pedals, bottom bracket, rear cog, seat post, saddle and bar tape are not stock. Also, because the bike was converted into a fixie there are no shifters or shifter cables. The bike can be run sans-brakes, if desired, but I also have the brakes and will include those. I can include the saddle (Selle Italia) and clipless pedals (Shimano Ultegra), if desired. Speed/cadence sensor and magnet can also be included (installed) as well. I can also include a Trixie-Fixie Tool if you need that.

Here are some photos. I’d prefer to sell locally, but if you’re willing to foot the shipping costs I can ship. If you’re interested, hit me up with an offer.

14t cog. The axle nuts that came with the bike were not correct, and since this picture was taken have been since replaced with proper track nuts using integrated washers.

Not that it matters, but in case anyone was wondering (sans pedals).

  1. I was just wondering the other day if you were ever riding this bike. Did you enjoy being on a fixie, but just have other interests now? Or was the fixie experience not for you?
