Fog gives way to extreme humidity on yesterday’s ride

Yesterday morning when I rolled out with a couple of buddies shortly after 7:00 AM, it was warm and humid. There was also a little light patchy fog, but it wasn’t too bad… yet.

We traveled north, and it wasn’t long before we found ourselves shrouded in thick, pea soup-like fog:

Thankfully traffic was light.

As the sun rose higher in the sky the fog eventually burned off, and we were treated to a complimentary sauna for the remainder of the nearly 80 mile ride. It didn’t help that the route I’d planned took us directly through the middle of a swamp. 😀

No more fog, but you could cut the humidity with a knife!

Despite the less than ideal weather conditions, it really was a fun ride and a great route. I’ve done this particular route a few times before, and it’s one of my favorites.

I’ve had three straight days of pretty tough rides, and so today I’m going to do a short recovery ride and then spend time with family.

Cut starts tomorrow! My starting stats won’t be pretty, as I’ve not been shy with the food and beer over this holiday weekend. 🙂

  1. Hey John just wondering what some of your favorite beers are? I’ve recently (this summer)gotten into drinking it myself. I never really liked it before but since opening myself up a little to the massive varieties that are out there I have found some that I really enjoy. Really excited about the cut! Perfect timing with the holidays still a couple months away.

    • In general my favorite beers are stouts. I also like good IPAs. I’ll try anything, but I can’t stand mainstream pisswater beer.

New Belgium’s Fat Tire is sort of my standard go-to beer. This weekend I’ve been drinking Fat Tire, Left Hand’s Milk Stout (one of my absolute favorites) and Guinness Extra Stout.
