Status check: the two stouts?
A couple people have asked me, now that my cut is over, if those two stouts that have been tempting me for the past seven weeks have been properly dispatched. The answer is “not yet”, but I assure you that they are not long for this world.
I offer photographic proof (this photo was taken a few moments ago) that I did not give in to temptation while I was cutting!
As much as I wish beers could breed, the truth is my thoughtful wife, Lisa, picked up a 12-pack of Fat Tire for me as a “congratulations” for reaching my cutting goal. I have not touched any of those yet, either.
Tomorrow I’m doing the Horse Farm Hundred up in Gainesville, and I’ve been saving those two stouts for tomorrow evening’s post-ride dinner, which will be a full on splurge meal of some sort. Some of you may recall that I did the Horse Farm Hundred last year, and it was the fastest and most fun century ride I’ve ever done (see “2014 Horse Farm Hundred: ride report“). In terms of speed, I expect tomorrow’s ride to be about the same as last year’s ride, and so a few beers–my first in nearly two months–are going to go down especially nice. 🙂
My maintenance plan, which I’ll discuss in more detail next week, is going to be a little more restrictive (but not overly so) than my previous maintenance plan. My goal is to maintain at less than 165 pounds, and that’s going to take a little discipline as we head into the holidays. Race season starts in late January, and I want to enter the new year lean, and approaching my peak conditioning levels.
