The 4th annual JHOP 100 – FAST!

This Saturday is the 4th annual JHOP (Junkins House Of Pain) 100 Century Ride & Race! Of all the century rides I’ve done this season, this is the one I’ve been looking forward to the most.

This is the ride on which I will be making my first serious attempt to complete 100 miles in 4 hours or less (25+ MPH average). It’s going to be tough, but I’ve been feeling very good this week. If I have a solid day in the saddle on Saturday and don’t suffer any mechanicals, I think I can do it.

This ride features a rolling motorcycle escort, rolling SAG support (Low on water? Just signal for a SAG motorcycle!) and smooth country roads.

The weather on Saturday looks like it’s going to be spectacular: low of 63°, high of 78° and zero chance of rain. It doesn’t get much better than that! If the forecast is correct, we’ll be fighting a headwind coming back, so I suspect the first half of the ride is going to be extra fast.

A few of my friends & KBS teammates are also doing this ride, so we should have a lot of fun while we’re suffering out on the course.

They are capping the registration for the century at 400 cyclists, so go get registered if you want in.

  1. Will you be doing it on your trek? You’ll smash it regardless MrStone!

And what are you up to this weekend Ghostie? did I hear you ask.
Well, I’m back from the worst case of man flu the world has ever seen just in time to join the rest of the King’s Men baboons on our inaurguaral charity ride ~400km in two days (http://kingsmen.com.au/charity).

    • I’ll be doing this on my road bike (the Madone), although the House of Pain is a National Championship Tri team, so my TT bike would probably be quite at home at this ride (quite a few do this ride on TT bikes, I think).

Sorry about the flu, dude! Best of luck on the big charity ride! It’s just 400km, why do it over two days, though? 😉
