Thanksgiving is definitely my favorite holiday. Getting together with family, cooking for everyone and just hanging out enjoying all the great stories–both old and new–is always a blast.
Sometimes during the year I find myself grumbling and groaning about some extremely banal, trite stuff. I hate that I do that, I really do. First world problems, to be sure.
Thanksgiving is a day when I step back and remind myself that over the next year I need to do a better job of putting things into their proper perspective.
I’m a flawed human being. I know that I’ll still get irritated over things that, in the grand scheme, are pretty damn meaningless. I’ll still make mistakes. I’ll still say stupid shit that I wish I could take back. But each Thanksgiving, imperfect as I am, I vow to do a little better the next trip around the sun.
I don’t mean to get too heady, but I figured instead of just typing “Happy Thanksgiving!” I’d write a bit about what this day means to me.
So, with that done, I would like to wish everyone a safe and very happy Thanksgiving day. Enjoy!
