Lisa’s picked up a cold, now I have it; Cold remedies.
Lisa’s job puts her face-to-face with the public all day long. A lot of people are sick right now, but that’s not keeping them home. I’ve lost track of how many times Lisa’s told me that someone will come in, give her a big hug and then say, “Oh, I shouldn’t have hugged you! I’m so sick!” She goes through a hell of a lot of hand sanitizer this time of year.
‘Tis the season, I suppose.
Anyway, earlier this week Lisa picked something up, and as been feeling progressively worse all week long. It looks like Lisa’s passed whatever she has on to me, as I’m not feeling too great this morning, either.
I had a touch of something just before the JHOP 100 a couple weekends ago, but I managed to fight whatever that was off pretty quickly (thankfully it didn’t seem to hurt my performance at JHOP).This coming weekend is the Hilly Hundred in Brooksville, and I’m still planning to do it. Hopefully I’ll be able to fight off whatever this bug is before Saturday. If I’m feeling worse on Saturday morning than I am this morning, though, I’ll probably have to skip it.
Everyone seems to have their favorite “surefire” method for cheating a cold out of its due. I’ve heard everything from over-the-counter products, such as Airborne to apple cider vinegar to echinacea. Lisa swears by Oil Of Oregano, and takes it whenever she feels a cold coming on.
Personally I’ve not seen any convincing evidence that those things make much, if any, difference. When I feel a cold coming on I simply make sure that I drink plenty of water, get lots of rest and eat healthy.
