Excellent first day of cut; No alcohol for the duration.
Yesterday was, I believe, the first day in about 5 or 6 weeks during which my diet was spot-on: healthy foods, plenty of water and no alcohol. It felt great.
I knew I’d be shedding some extra water weight during the first few days, and this always means many overnight trips to the bathroom. All those trips to bathroom is very disruptive to my sleep, but it’s unavoidable.
In an attempt to reduce how quickly I shed the water, last night I made Asian stir fry, which is very healthy, but also one of the higher sodium cutting meals I prepare. I figured if I did that, perhaps the water weight would be reduced a little more gradually.
I think the plan worked, as I “only” got up to urinate three times last night. Problem is, I urinated four times. Just kidding. 😀
Anyway, I’m down exactly two pounds from yesterday’s starting weight, and I suspect I’ll be down another pound or two by tomorrow morning.
When I posted my cutting principles/plan in yesterday’s blog, I wrote that there would be no alcohol consumption apart from once per week with my weekly splurge meal. I’ve reconsidered that, and I have decided that I’m not going to consume any alcohol at all during this cut.
A couple glasses of wine with my weekly splurge meal certainly wouldn’t be the end of the world, but I really want to detoxify my body over the next couple of months. As I mentioned in yesterday’s blog, I’ve been consuming too much alcohol over the past six weeks. I’ve definitely noticed the difference on the bike, too. I want all of that shit out of my system. I need my mind and body at full power right now.
