Hi everyone—I know, it’s been quite some time. Rather than a “formal” check in, I thought I’d just say hello and let you know what’s been going on.

Despite a few injuries and setbacks, my cutting diet has gone extremely well. Since January I’m down just a hair under 35 pounds. My waist is down 6 inches, my thighs have shrunk over 4 inches, my hips are down almost 5 inches and I’ve cut my body fat almost in half—from 20.0% to 10.6%.

I feel good. My current weight is 176 pounds, down from 210.6 pounds. I’ve decided that I’m going to cut down to around 8% body fat, so there’s still a little more work to be done.

Unfortunately not long after breaking some ribs while mountain biking I messed up my back. Training with weights has been on hold, doctor’s orders. That sucks, because I was really enjoying training on the X9. I’ll be back to it shortly, and you can still expect my full review. It’s an incredible machine.

I couldn’t resist the call of the road any longer and, despite the dangers, have resumed road cycling. I’ve been ramping up the miles over the past three months, and have started to at least somewhat resemble the rider I once was. There is still work to do, but I’ve come a long way since June. I’m really enjoying riding again.

Work is going great. I still love my job, and life is good.

Both dogs are doing awesome!

Lisa and I are talking about moving. We’re looking at everywhere from Georgia to Colorado to Nevada. This isn’t something that will happen within the next year, but it’s probably going to happen eventually.

There have been some health issues with Lisa’s parents, and that has been super difficult. Thankfully Lisa has been able to help out since since she’s retired now. We’re hanging in there, but anyone who has gone though Alzheimer’s with a loved one knows how difficult that is.

I guess that’s about it for this update. Cheers, and good health!

  1. Nice to hear from you John. Moving will be exciting, I hope you detail it at the same level as the last move!

I’ve dealt directly with Alzheimer’s (grandma), even lived with my grandparents for 2 years during the early stage. I’ve also dealt tangentially with ALS on my wife’s side. They are complete opposites, and equally horrible. Sorry you’re dealing with that.

I’m also down about 35-40 pounds from my high of around 230 last Christmas. Was 188 this morning. And I’ve been lifting again for the first time in years, which feels incredible. Even my wife is moving the iron too, she’s a savage!
